They’ll each pick their favorite, and then go head-to-head at the range to crown the champion.

Meet the contestants: The guys will shoot the (1) Browning® AB3 Composite Stalker, (2) the Franchi® Momentum, (3) the Winchester® XPR®, (4) the Savage® 110 Trail Hunter, (5) the Ruger® American® Gen II, (6) the CVA® Cascade, (7) the Savage® Axis® II, and (8) the Mossberg® Patriot.

How We Pick a Winner.

For many hunters, especially those just starting out, the cost of equipment can be a major hurdle. The eight rifles we chose for this test won’t blow a hunter’s entire budget, and they promise plenty of performance in the field.

Based on decades of hunting and shooting experience with all kinds of firearms, Mark and Ryan will put the eight budget rifles to the test based on accuracy, fit and finish, shootability, features and value, and they’ll throw in some bonus points for things like aftermarket support. After all the rifles are ranked, Mark and Ryan will pick a favorite and head to the range for a long-distance showdown to crown the winner.
