EDGEFIELD, S.C. — Conservationists, turkey hunters and outdoor enthusiasts far and wide are counting down the days until the NWTF flock descends upon the Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center in Nashville, Tennessee, for the organization’s 48th annual Convention and Sport Show, which is less than one month away. Mossy Oak is the official sponsor.
“Our Convention and Sport Show is an important time for our organization; it allows our volunteers, partners and staff from all corners of the country to gather in one place and get excited for delivering our mission for the rest of the year,” NWTF co-CEO Jason Burckhalter said. “Our Convention and Sport Show is a springboard into the incoming spring turkey season, something that is on everyone’s mind. It is the perfect kickoff for a year full of all the things we love, and we hope you join in on the celebration this year!”
With over 500 exhibitors and the outdoor industry buzzing about this year’s event, the flock is looking forward to nonstop camaraderie and fellowship and breaking last year’s attendance record of 67,368 individuals.
Early Convention and Sport Show registration, sponsored by Chêne, begins Wednesday, Feb. 14 at 8 a.m. and runs through Saturday. Sport Show doors open Thursday, Feb. 15 at 11 a.m. The event concludes with the highly anticipated Grand National Auction on Saturday night and a worship service Sunday morning. In addition to the convention events and the over 500 exhibitor booths set up on the show floor, talented taxidermists, call makers and turkey callers will compete in their respective areas of expertise as part of the NWTF’s coveted Grand National competitions. Attendees are able to witness the talent of these individuals as their skills are put on display throughout the event. Additionally, the NWTF will host its Conservation Conference, where NWTF biologists and conservation staff, wild turkey researchers, state- and federal- agency partners, other NGOs, NWTF Wild Turkey Technical Committee members and Wild Turkey Safety Task Force members will gather to discuss conservation projects, wild turkey research, landscape-scale conservation, future collaborative opportunities and more.
