In the summer of 2023, Weatherby introduced the Model 307 action. This new action was designed to complement the historic Mark V® and Vanguard® lineups by offering a new platform that was value-rich, innovative, and could accommodate a wide variety of after-market accessories. Since the launch of Model 307 Weatherby has released several rifle models but today is the first to feature a carbon barrel.
Model 307 Alpine MDT Carbon Starting at $3,499
About the Model 307 Action
The Model 307 is a 2-lug design equipped with an M-16 style extractor for smooth and reliable cycling. The bolt has a unique tool-less disassembly feature that makes it easy to break down for cleaning and field maintenance. The action’s cylindrical design accommodates Stiller/Savage® scope mounts and is threaded for 8-40 screws, the Alpine MDT Carbon model comes equipped with Peak 44’s Picatinny rail (JRAIL) making it optics-ready out of the box.
MDT HNT26 Chassis
The Alpine MDT Carbon sits on MDT’s lightweight HNT26 stock, which is their first purpose-built hunting rifle chassis. This stock provides all of the benefits one expects from a chassis system such as v-block bedding, adjustable length of pull, adjustable cheek riser, and AICS magazine compatibility. The chassis is constructed of a magnesium alloy, carbon fiber forend, carbon fiber pistol grip, and carbon fiber buttstock. The forend has an integral ARCA rail for easy attachment to a tripod and QD mounts for sling attachments. The foldable buttstock cuts off 9” of length when collapsed making it compact for storage and hiking into your favorite hunting spot.
BSF Barrels
BSF uses carbon fiber in a way that no other carbon barrel manufacturer does, leading to unmatched accuracy and heat dispersion properties. After BSF turns down a 416R stainless steel match barrel they sleeve it with carbon fiber and load it under tension. Because it’s under tension, as the barrel heats up it keeps the rifling straighter, resulting in a stiffer, more rigid barrel. Most competitors use a wrapping method that has been proven to trap heat and cause delamination. With BSF’s proprietary method, 95% of the carbon fiber does not touch the contoured barrel, creating air gaps and allowing air to foil around the steel and cool the barrel faster. The high-quality carbon fiber is designed to move at the same expansion rate as the 416R stainless steel resulting in a vibration dampening effect. What does that
mean? It means the carbon fiber absorbs the shock and vibration allowing more consistent groups. All Weatherby rifles are guaranteed to shoot a 3-shot SUB-MOA group at 100 yards with factory-loaded ammunition. All barrels are threaded ⅝-24.
Shorter Barrel Legnths
The Alpine MDT Carbon line features shorter barrels on Weatherby Magnum Calibers. Most barrels will be 2” shorter than traditional offerings (excluding 6.5-300).
TriggerTech Trigger
TriggerTech’s trigger provides a true zero-creep break and is externally adjustable down to 2.5 lbs. Precision cut stainless steel components ensure consistent trigger pulls from shot to shot in a safe, reliable, and corrosion resistant package.
NEW! Accubrake DST
The Accubrake DST is a side-ported directional self-timing brake. Side-ported brakes direct gases to the left and right reducing mizzle rise and drastically reducing felt recoil. A timing nut allows users to easily self-time the brake without the aid of a gunsmith.
Cerakote® Finish
All metal work is finished with a weather-resistant and durable Cerkaote coating.
13 Chamberings Available
Available in standard short and long actions, the Alpine MDT Carbon offers some of Weatherby’s historic magnum cartridges but is also available in some of the most popular cartridges on the market. SA: 6.5 CM, 243, 308 Win

“As you look back at our long history, each new rifle came with a purpose. My grandfather released the Mark V in 1958 and it quickly became known as the strongest action in the world. The purpose was simple and clear. He wanted to develop an action that could house his high powered magnum cartridges with a set of unique and distinct features. As the years went by, it was evident there were many hunters and shooters who wanted to own a Weatherby but simply could not afford the Mark V. So, in 1971 the Vanguard was released with the purpose of providing the quality that people would expect of Weatherby while remaining affordable for a wide array of sportsman. While these two actions have been widely accepted over the years and used with great success, the purpose in the design of the Model 307 is a new and different one for Weatherby. With more accessories available for a 700 platform than any other bolt action rifle in the world, the goal for our third action was to come up with a design that could accommodate the vast offerings of stocks, triggers, rails, mounts, magazines, etc… that exist in the marketplace. While keeping the importance of compatibility in mind, we also committed ourselves to keeping this “made in the USA” rifle with a feature set and price that rivals anything out there all while keeping the quality our customers would expect from a Weatherby.” -Adam Weatherby
